Having the opportunity to meet and work with a diversity of people, I have come to realize a few things.
1. About Mistakes
A lot of us already know that we learn from making mistakes, and I've read it somewhere that it'll take an average person 16 times of repeated mistakes to physically permanently understand the consequences of certain things, and thus remember not to make that mistake again.
Whether it's true or not, I think it's logical even if we make the same mistakes more than 3 times it'll be obvious for us not to make it again. But we all know that there are mistakes we make kazillion times yet we still do it. Why is that? I think the biggest mistake we actually make is that we don't admit it was a mistake to begin with.
2. People's perception and expectations
Everyone has different perspectives, you can't change what other people think of anything at all. Whenever people complain to me about how they don't receive what they deserve, I always tell them "Well you shouldn't have expected it though."
A lot of them don't understand that maybe the greatest effort you contribute to a group is actually very tiny in some people's eyes, on the other hand, some tiny little thing you do can turn out to be a great favor for someone else. A lot of us would complain that we don't deserve such little pay for what we contribute to the company. And many employees will suddenly bitch about how life is not fair.
Life is fair, in the way that each one of us gets to control ourselves.
And life is also fair in the sense that I ONLY get to control myself, nobody else can change me, unless I let them change me. And so, what we can do is change our own perspectives to accept the fact that people will always look at things different than you, we are the only people that can truly affect the way we see things, no more no less. It is up to us whether to accept other people's views or not, and the way I see it...WHY NOT? Learn from others, like Master Confucius said: "Threre must be something I can learn from others." (三人行必有我師)
So I'd say the best thing we can do is simply do our best and leave no room for guilt later on, and even if doing so people still condemn us, who gives a shit? The reason why we're paid this little is
because we are WORTH this little to the company; our salary merely
reflects our value contributed to the company, or else we woudl've received a raise a long time
ago. If you think you're worth more than that and paid too little, quit.
3. Victimization
Another thing I notice is how some people like to victimize themselves. I do that a lot so I know. They like to do this, consciously or unconsciously, to draw attentions from other people and feel that they've worked hard.
In a friend friend relationship it's ok, there's gotta be a whiner and there's gotta be a listener, and sometimes this can lead to a great friendships.
But in a working environment it's pretty annoying, because the only thing we care about is results. Get this done, get that finished, so and so. Victims usually don't get shit done and they love to brag about things that they're supposed to do, and they create the most unusual situations and difficulties in the process of doing the task they're supposed to do and take credit for it.
And if you ever try to talk to them they'll always bust out the "Nah you don't understand because you've never been in my shoes."
Well I wish I can just say "Nah you don't understand because you never actually bring any results."
And they don't understand it, one day you fire them, they will be shocked as ever, and they will cry and bitch about how bad this company is and they will make sure to get the lawyers, reporters, cops, the whole package, to make sure that you pay them for what's their worth.
Beware of these types of people man, you never know how bad they think they got it and how good you've had it, and they will fuck. you. up.
Damn I've been pretty negative lately... I gotta think of something good...
OH YEAH, I've found a new basketball court! YES! Now I get to shoot hoops... damn it felt so great to play ball again! Until I met this kid, who continued to call foul every time he misses his stupid layups. EVERY time.
I kept telling myself "Calm down, don't get all serious with these high schoolers." but no I can not. I CAN'T and I REFUSE TO. I WILL GO BACK TO THAT COURT AND SCHOOL HIM, WHAT A REAL JUICY FOUL IS, NOT THAT SISSY LITTLE FOUL WHERE I LAY MY FINGER NAIL ON HIS HAIR, INSTEAD I WILL "OOPS!" HIS ASS AND LAY MY ELBOW ON THIS WHINNY KIDS MOUTH...
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAaaa.....
Sigh...
