JACKY'S TIPS: Simple rules in Warcraft Team Games that will raise your winning %!
In any game of Warcraft 3: TFT, Micro and Macro Management play very important key factor to winning the game, especially in solo games. Then there are also the strategies, counter-strategies, basic understandings of units and counter-units.
Expert players can also make build orders, map advantages, along with other seemingly trivial matters such as a single item into game winning factors.
However, I'm no Pro, I mean I will own you but I'm humble in a way to call myself Intermediate level player, no really I'm just a regular guy with over 1,500 win icon and a fairly good battle record.
So, for those who enjoy playing team games from time to time, nothing serious, these little tips may help you greatly in your team games.
If used correctly, I assure you and your partner will take it to the next level!
Testimony:
"I've used Jacky's Tips for about 3 months now, and the result is AMAZING! It changed my life! Prior to the reading, my boyfriend and I were always arguing about the littlest matters, I hated how he never TP to my base when I was being harassed, but after reading Jacky's Tips, he'd always be there for me! We are so much happier now, we're getting married tomorrow, THANK YOU JACKY!" - Unknown human player
Tip #1 "Communication"
You gotta talk, let your partner know what you will be making and know what he will be making. For me, I always type "Fiends/Statues then Destro, DK Lich" and then my partner would most often "Ok I melee then"
Then a nice game starts from there!
Tip #2 "Share"
Share control! Share your gold and lumber! Sometimes the benefits will sky rocket when you or your partner get to upgrade 30 seconds sooner than others!
Have you seen two Undeads using two DKs? When these two are shared, they are virtually "Undeadable", they just coil each other, it's fun, it's hardcore, it's NASTY!
But during a battle, we often fail to pay attention to our partners' heroes and how they're doing, so share control and try to use it for emergency, it might save you a game!
Tip #3 "TP wisely"
The most common mistake beginners make when choosing the time to TP are very simple.
Too early or Too late.
For example, if your partner is being harassed by one Farseer and two wolves, you should just keep creeping! Don't waste 350 gold for a stupid Farseer that is most likely going to run away!
I mean, if a Farseer and 2 wolves can single handely destroy your partner, you should think about getting another partner, for me, I always unsummon my whole base when my partner gets owned by 1 hero and a couple of summon units.
Now, if your partner's base is being attacked by BOTH enemy ARMIES, you bet your ass TP right away!
Also, when you're in a field open battle with all 4 parties present, the MOMENT your partner TPs away, you should do it right away, because remember, the moment enemies see his TP graphic, they're most likely going to attack your units ONLY!
Finally, in the cases of your teams getting owned and you are near your partner's base, TP to your partner's base instead of your base from far away, because chances are, they will go directly to your partner's base and do heavy damages, but if you stick together, you will have a better chance fighting them off on time!
#4 "Lv 1 Hero is indeed important!"
When it comes to choices of letting a LV1 hero die or TP? It depends, but most of the time you should TP, it serves a couple purposes:
First, to save your army (if you have any)
Second, to maintain your exp gaining potentials (if your hero dies, your enemy will take a lot more exp than you!)
Third, to slow down enemy exp gaining potentials (you TP, you creep somewhere else)
If you have minimal hope in surviving EVEN if you TP, you should let your hero go then. So, never wait till your hero is almost dead to TP, TP when you're about orange, so that you can still fight off a Windwalking BM or go out and creep!
#5 "Watch for Expansion"
Not only Human is capable of fast expanding. If you are aware of the power of sharing resources, wait till you see what expansions can do to you!
Unlike solo games, in team games, the expansion may seem trivial in the beginning, many players often just creep and counter unaware of the expansion, the result can be tragic.
So, when it comes to spotting an expansion from the enemy, there is one of two things you should be doing:
One: DESTROY IT.
Two: EXPAND TOO.
It will be very, very difficult to defeat your enemies once they have one or more goldmines than you.
#6 "Formation: Melee in front of Range"
This is pretty self explanatory, if you are going range, always wait for your partner; if you are going melee, always protect your partner. It will be tragic to see a bunch of fiends going up against taurens.
When it comes to situations like your partner having no TP in your base and the enemy team are traveling together towards you, you should always give gold to your partner for a TP to come in time and form a good formation.
Never fight outside of a friendly base when enemies intend to come in. Militias can help; trees will smack; UD has cold towers/blight, and Orc has burrows, these little things can change your game!
#7 "Scout"
Not just early game, one must scout constantly to see what his enemy is up to. Do not get caught up with a short win on a temporary fight off the field battle. Don't ever stop scouting. You never know if the human is massing tanks, or the UD is massing necro, or the NE and Orc tower rushing you!
#8 "Enjoy the game"
It's a game, people win and lose, I know I "used to" have bad tempers when it comes to team games (ok solo too), but I've come to realize that just enjoy the game, don't get all uptight, blaming your partner for doing something wrong, because emotion will mess up your play and it just does generally no good for your game, health and image.
It doesn't mean you shouldn't take the game seriously, just not personally.
There should be more tips but I can't think of any, all additional suggestions welcome.
More later!
